Gangplank
Gangplank is a popular choice in Teamfight Tactics right now, but it’s not because he only costs one mana or because he can cause severe damage. Gangplank’s real value comes from the fact that his origin and class are so useful. This makes him the perfect set-up for a slow roll match.
As 3-stars start to show up on the board, their value goes up because each 3-star increases damage by 3%. Also, the attack speed bonus from Gangplank’s Duelist class gives both early-game and late-game tactics an advantage that has never been seen before.
Lulu
Lulu is one of the best early-game choices in Teamfight Tactics because she only costs 1 and does a lot of damage quickly. Lulu can hurt multiple enemy champions with a single hit, and she only needs 50 mana to do it.
With the return of the Heart class, Lulu is now a must-pick, since the AP bonus you get early in the game can keep building up until the middle or end of the game. Growth Spurt, Lulu’s hero augment, makes her useful even late in the game because every time she uses an ability, she gains 100 Health and 18 Ability Power, which helps her stay alive and does damage.
Nilah
Niah is smart because her ability has two uses: it hurts enemy champions with magic damage and heals friends in a large area. With her already-powerful ability and her Duelist class, Nilah is a force to be reckoned with. She rains down hits with an attack speed bonus that has never been seen before.
Nilah’s origin as a Star Guardian is another underrated but very powerful buff that lets her get more mana with each hit. With more mana, Nilah can spam Apotheosis to deal magic damage to enemies while healing nearby friends.
Alistar
In a game where every second of active fighting is important for winning, crowd control can hurt the opponent. Alistar is one of the best disablers in Teamfight Tactics right now. With Mascot and Aegis, he can heal and protect everyone on the board, and Ox Force makes his front line impossible to break through.
Alistar has two classes, so he works well with a wide range of champions and can fit into a lot of different team compositions. Also, his worth in the late game is unmatched, as he becomes a key part of taking down enemies and healing allies.
Annie
Annie is a 2-cost champion with a lot of early-game value because this fiery mage can also be used as a tanky front-liner. Her ability, Burst Shield, hurts enemies in front of her and then gives her a shield that blocks any damage that comes her way.
Annie’s Ox Force origin makes her even more of a tank, since it gives her more armor and magic protection and gives her a 50% max HP shield when she dies. Annie’s Spellslinger class works well with other mage compositions in the current meta, which favors AP. Her AP bonus also makes her a reliable attack.
Fiddlesticks
Fiddlesticks is a real oddball, and not just because he’s creepy. His Corrupted origin makes him a stand-alone champion with a big power boost late in Drift Boss game. With the Threat origin, Fiddlesticks can’t join any classes, which makes his natural ability better.
Dark Harvest focuses on groups of enemies and teleports Fiddlesticks to the middle while he frightens and stops enemy champions, which drains their health. His style of play is risky because he doesn’t do anything at the start of the round. However, the risk pays off when Fiddlesticks sweeps the board with his intimidating presence.
Aurelion Sol
Aurelion Sol is the best late-game carry for AP combinations now that these compositions have gotten so many buffs in this patch. Aurelion Sol is from the Threat origin, so he doesn’t have a trait bonus. However, he makes up for this with skills that are way too strong.
Meteor Shower, one of Aurelion Sol’s abilities, makes it rain meteors on random enemies on the board. Each meteor does 10% Burn damage and 33% Wound. Late-game champions depend a lot on healing and staying alive, so using Wound on more than one enemy champion can be very bad for them.
Aatrox
Even though Aatrox is a 4-cost pick, he is worth it because his high sustain ability doubles as a powerful attack.Soul Crush does AoE magic damage to foes nearby and heals Aatrox for a portion of his maximum health.
This ability brings out his demon form even more, changing his spell with the Darkin Blade, a very offensive spell that does damage in a wide area of effect. With the Mascot Emblem, Aatrox becomes an unkillable powerhouse who can clear the board and heal himself and his friends at the same time.
Teamfight Tactics can be played on PC, macOS, and Mobile right now.
